VisitScotland Events Directorate takes a strategic lead in the Scottish events industry and is responsible for bidding for and securing major sporting, cultural and business events. The Directorate: EventScotland, Business Events and Industry Development plays a pivotal role in the implementation of the national strategy, Scotland the Perfect Stage for Events.
Building upon the success of XX Commonwealth Games, The Ryder Cup and the 2015 World Gymnastics Championships, the 2015 – 2025 strategy aims to raise Scotland’s reputation as the perfect stage by developing the industry and by supporting and securing a portfolio of events which deliver sustainable impact and international profile.
Scotland will host a number of world-class events in the coming years including;

- The 147th Open
- European Championships 2018
- The 2019 Solheim Cup
- World Curling Championships 2020
- UEFA EURO 2020
